Divide class into groups, teacher asks one group a question, if correct, other groups must do an exercise!

Teacher asks “Have you ever___?” If student answers no, must do an exercise.

Students run on the spot answering questions, changing direction each time they.

Students pretend they are climbing a ladder to the sky.

Students follow instructions to change seats.

Students in groups put their hands on the shoulder of the student in front of them.

 Leader acts as captain and calls out commands for students to follow.

Student A demonstrates exercise and class follows, Student B demonstrates exercise and class does previous and new exercise, and so on!

Students in groups follow an activity from a designated leader.

Students follow dance moves.

Students draw a card from the deck and complete the associated activity.

Each group must perform the designated mission before moving onto the next.

Students put two sheets of paper on their feet from the recycling bin to skate around.

Each leader has 30 seconds to lead the class through an activity.

 Students complete each action for 30 seconds while seated.

General Exercise Adaptations

  • If an activity heavily requires the use of legs, students may choose to do just the upper body movements and/or upper body modifications
  • Encourage students to go at their own pace and take frequent breaks
  • For students with special education needs, exercises should be adapted in accordance with accommodations / modifications outlines in their Individual Education Plans
